EGA AND HIAS MOLDOVA: COOPERATION FOR THE CONTINUITY OF THE DOPOMOGA.GOV.MD PLATFORM

2024-02-01 12:49

Public Institution “e-Governance Agency” (EGA) and HIAS Moldova, a subsidiary of HIAS Europe, have joined their efforts to support refugees on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, thus strengthening the dopomoga.gov.md, the most important official information resource, launched in 2022, in the first days of the war in Ukraine.

Cooperation between the e-Governance Agency and HIAS Moldova will be based on the Agreement signed electronically today, February 1st, 2024, between the two parties. The document provides for the maintenance, administration, and development of the governmental platform dopomoga.gov.md, to provide information support to refugees from Ukraine and other foreigners temporarily staying on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, offering them critical information and assistance in their integration process.

This cooperation aims to:

Facilitating integration: Refugees will benefit from increased information support to facilitate their integration into Moldovan society.

Quick access to information: e-Governance Agency and HIAS Moldova will provide easy access to essential information and up-to-date and truthful content based on official information resources, helping refugees to access services related to various aspects of their life in Moldova.

Consolidating online resources: Through their joint efforts, the e-Governance Agency and HIAS Moldova will improve, develop, and promote the dopomoga.gov.md platform, ensuring the continuity of the work of this essential information resource.

Since launch and to date, the total number of unique users has been over 750.000, and total hits have exceeded 4 million.  Around 50 major resources are available on the platform, including internally developed services. The most used pages are: the service for obtaining IDNP online, the option for calculating days of legal residence in Moldova, the set of instructions on ways and methods to obtain temporary protection in Moldova, as well as other ancillary materials, explaining step-by-step various public or private procedures on how to obtain legal status in Moldova, how to apply for humanitarian aid, etc. These resources are essential for the refugee community.

Currently, about 80-85 thousand Ukrainian citizens are in the Republic of Moldova permanently, and about 10-15 thousand as transit migrants.

HIAS is an international humanitarian organisation, present in the Republic of Moldova since 2022, providing vital services to vulnerable groups, refugees, and asylum seekers in more than 20 countries. The organisation advocates for the rights of all people forced to flee to rebuild their lives and seeks to create a world where these people find welcome, safety, and opportunity.
