Librarians from the districts were trained for two days, on October 9 and 10, in order to use and promote digital services in their communities. The e-Governance Agency (EGA) organized training for 40 librarians from various localities, at the request of the National Library of the Republic of Moldova. The activities took place at the EGA’s Center for Innovation and Training in Digital Governance and aimed to familiarize librarians with new government applications in order to prepare them to provide assistance and technological support to users of electronic services in public libraries.

The agenda of the training session included detailed presentations and practical activities on digital solutions launched by the Government, such as the EVO and EVOSign applications, the MLearn online learning platform, and the “Join the digitization hora” communication campaign. The participants had the opportunity to test the apps on their own devices, log in and access the apps or digital platforms with the support of trainers from the e-Governance Agency.

Andrei Prisacar, Director of the e-Governance Agency, welcomed the participants, emphasizing the important role of librarians in the digital transformation process: “Librarians have always been with us in promoting new technologies. You are true digital ambassadors and messengers, spreading the messages of digital transformation in your communities. The involvement of librarians is essential to ensure that every citizen has easy access to e-services, and this training session gives you the new tools you need to continue this mission”.

The National Library has been a key partner in this initiative, expressing its constant concern for the training of librarians, who have a key role in supporting the digitization process at the local level. “Librarians need to be up to date with all digital technologies in order to meet the needs of the community and facilitate citizens’ access to electronic services provided by the Government,” said Vera Osoianu, Deputy Director of the National Library.

The sessions concluded with an interactive activity, a quiz and an open discussion, where librarians had the opportunity to ask questions and share their experiences in using digital technology. Participants were encouraged to become active promoters of digital solutions in their communities, thus supporting the national goal of digital transformation and modernization of public services.

The agenda also included a topic on the National ECO Voucher Program, presented by specialists from the National Center for Sustainable Energy. This sustainability initiative was brought to the attention of librarians, who in turn will help eligible citizens to access and capitalize on the EVO Voucher.
