THE YOUNG GENERATION – THE MOST ACTIVE USERS OF ONLINE PLATFORMS AND SERVICES
A group of students from the National College for Commerce of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova (ASEM) carried out a study visit today, 10 October 2022, to the office of the E-Governance Agency (EGA).
The visit takes place within the Digital Information and Literacy Campaign "Digital Moldova: Innovations for Generations" and in the context of celebration of the European Cyber Security Month. Discussions between students and EGA professionals focused on such topics as the EGA’s mission, ways to access online public platforms, benefits of electronic services, digital identity, electronic signature and electronic document. In particular, the young people gained awareness in the latest challenges in the field of cybersecurity, social engineering, cyber-attacks, types of computer viruses, actions to fight cyber attackers and methods for protecting personal data online.
The presentation delivered by Aurel Zghibarta, IT Systems Security Analyst at the Service for ensuring information quality and security and comprised a number of useful tips to students regarding cyber education, password management, recognition and detection of social engineering attacks and elimination of cyber vulnerabilities, as well as cybersecurity strategies for safe internet browsing.
The visitors were also taken on a tour of the EGA premises and had the opportunity to meet some of the team members who carry out digital transformation projects and who are involved day by day in the development of IT systems that are later made available to public entities/natural and legal persons of the Republic of Moldova.
Students mentioned that they were all in favour of interacting through technology, noting that while they were not of legal age, they had cards, were making electronic payments and were active users of the Internet and of all the opportunities provided by the online environment, including for obtaining professional knowledge and skills.
At the end of the visit, the students took part in the "Fii AGEr!" (Be SMART) Quiz to test their level of preparedness to act in a constantly evolving digital world.
The digital literacy campaign "Digital Moldova: Innovations for Generations" ends on 12 October, and the communication and awareness raising activities will go on consistently through EGA's public communication channels: egov.md, Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin and Twitter.
