Digital Transformation Press Club – a new EGA project
The e-Governance Agency (EGA) organized today, 14 September 2021, the first meeting of the Press Club dedicated to the digitalization process, where participants had the opportunity to discuss directly with the representatives of relevant authorities. The event took place in a mixed format and brought together journalists, media representatives, bloggers, online opinion leaders and media experts.
The first meeting of the Club covered topics on the mission and importance of digitalization, the medium-term action plan for digital transformation, new projects and changes to the regulatory framework, with a particular focus on facilitating citizens' access to accurate and useful information about electronic platforms and services.
The special guest of the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister for Digitalization, Iurie Turcanu declared that the goal of the digital transformation press club is to build an efficient dialogue and a proactive communication, for the benefit of the citizen. „The best use of the developed platforms and services depends on the efficient communication with the users. An important role here lies with the press. I rely on open cooperation, which should take form of meetings, discussions and active collaborations", added Iurie Turcanu.
In turn, Olga Tumuruc, EGA Director, mentioned the importance of creating this communication channel between the institution and the media and referred to the projects to be presented to the public in the near future. "We are working on rethinking the way the mobile signature service is provided, without identification - a smart ID system. We plan to launch it by the end of this year, also ensuring the necessary regulatory framework", specified Olga Tumuruc.
In the same context, Vlad Manoil, EGA’s Reengineering Coordinator spoke about public service modernization projects, including the online service that will allow obtaining a driving license, unemployment benefits and a document confirming the degree of disability or incapacity for work. "The process will continue with the completion of the reengineering of a package of services that includes the registration of commercial and non-commercial legal entities, households or patent holders. It also includes a package of services provided by the National Social Insurance Office, and a good part of them will become active services. This means, for instance, that at the birth of a person, the information appears in the state population registry, the process of completing the identity document - birth certificate will take place automatically", said Vlad Manoil.
Participants also addressed topics concerning digital and mobile signatures and future prospects to facilitate the process of obtaining it, about the impediments encountered in receiving the documents, about the activity of multifunctional centres, accessibility of remote services, about the Registry of authorizations (MPower), as well as journalists' access to information and other issues.
The digital transformation press club is launched at the initiative of the e-Governance Agency. Its purpose is to create a common platform for communication on thematic topics between the competent authorities and media representatives. The members of the Press Club will meet periodically, will be able to submit proposals and will participate in the joint elaboration of topics and agenda of public interest regarding the application of technology in various fields, challenges in the digitalization process, as well as digitalization perspectives for the Republic of Moldova.
