The diplomas issued by the Moldovan universities are being digitalized. Thus, any person holding a BA, MA or PhD diploma issued after the year of 2009 can check and download it through the Citizen’s Portal on mcabinet.gov.md (Education section). This has been made possible due to the cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Research and the e-Governance Agency (EGA).

According to Anatolie Topala, the Minister of Education and Research, digitization of education and the processes related to the education system is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Education and Research.

 “Digitization of diplomas is just one of the elements related to digitalization in education, which has become a priority through the Education Development Strategy 2030. The digital diploma can be easily sent, for instance, to an education institution. If one does not have it at hand, he or she will always find it in the MCabinet. The digital diploma has similar legal value as the one on paper”, the minister added.

“Currently, the education documents are available in the Citizen’s Portal for those individuals who have an electronic signature and have graduated higher education after 2009. The diploma is just a click away and can be always accessed and sent where required”, said Olga Tumuruc, EGA director.

Digitalization of diplomas is a largely used practice around the world, allowing graduates quick access and control of their documents, while providing security and portability. This also allows institutions and employers to check them in a quick and safe manner,  without having to wait for the paper diplomas.
