The first governmental Hackathon TechBridge dedicated to digital solutions for governmental services, initiated by the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitalization of Romania and the e-Governance Agency of the Republic of Moldova on May 19-20, 2023 in Iasi has come to an end.

The event aimed to contribute to creating a common digital space between the Republic of Moldova and Romania, an objective set by the intergovernmental commission for the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on digital transformation, by making professionals from the two countries work together on the development of innovative digital solutions for the benefit of the citizens from both banks of the Prut River.

More than 40 hackathon participants received guidance throughout the hackathon from experts in digitalization of public services during coaching sessions and took part in a workshop on the Moldovan e-governance ecosystem. The workshop was moderated by Iurie Turcanu, former Deputy Prime Minister for digitalization of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Bercu, head of Digital Platforms Department, Vadim Vintila, legal consultant, and Valeriu Poia, project manager at EGA. The competing teams developed solutions that can be integrated with the available digital systems and platforms like MPass, MSign, MConnect, MPay, MCabinet and others.

At the end of the hackathon, the teams presented creative solutions to predefined challenges (issues), including: 

- digital solution for searching information on government websites (chatbot);

- digitalization of amicable settlement in case of road accidents and automated notification of insurers and police;

- digital solution for the electronic auction of public assets;

- digitalization of the register of green spaces;

- digitalization of the patient’s medical record (MED CARD application);

- digital solution for online support (publication, debates and signing) for civic initiatives/collective petitions;

- digitalization of human resources management (M_HR application).

After the evaluation of the projects, the jury awarded three prizes to 4 teams.

First place – the teams:

-   STARLAB - for the digitalization of the amicable settlement in case of road accidents and automated notification of insurers and police, and

-  MTeam - for the e-Petitions digital solution

Second place: PRASADA team - for the digitalization of human resources management process (M_HR application)

Third place: BeeNear team – for the digital solution Register of green spaces  

TechBridge is a governmental hackathon organized by the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitalization and the e-Governance Agency in partnership with Rubikhub and FABLAB Iasi.
