GOVTECH GLOBAL FORUM: GOVERNANCE IN THE DIGITAL ERA
The GovTech Global Forum: ‘Governance in the Digital Era’, where Moldova was represented by Olga Tumuruc, the director of the e-Governance Agency (EGA), took place on May 3-4, 2023 in Washington, USA.
The Forum agenda included the systemic approach to the increasing challenges facing the GovTech community across the world and identification of solutions for greater security, resilience and sustainability of countries.
During the Forum discussions, the director of EGA, shared the successful experience of the Moldovan Government of building the e-government ecosystem, ensuring the interoperability of the IT systems in the public sector, and the factors that led to these internationally recognized and appreciated achievements, including efficient cooperation with the development partners, in particular with the World Bank Group - the country’s strategic partner in digital transformation, and with the private sector for the development of quality public services for citizens.
“Every country has its own way to become a digital country, builds its own digital transformation approach. Therefore, it is important to learn from each other, but also to take into account the national background and choose the most appropriate solutions or models. Keeping this in mind and also our goal of making all services available online through the digital first approach, we have made this change and choice for the entire government system of the Republic of Moldova, because our goal was not just to experiment with the technology, but also to make significant and essential changes in the experience of citizens and businesses when they interact with the public institutions”, Mrs. Tumuruc stressed.
GovTech Global Forum was organized by the World Bank Group and brought together participants from over 70 countries.
