INNOVATIONS IN EDUCATION – THE FUTURE HAPPENING TODAY

The National Conference “Innovations in Education through Technology and STE(A)M”, held today, February 23, 2023, served as a platform for dialogue for theoreticians and practitioners. A joint effort of the National Center for Digital Innovations in Education “Future Classroom Lab” and the e-Government Agency, as well as other partners, the conference aimed at promoting innovation in education and sharing good practices.

The event brought together representatives of the academics, development partners and national and international experts who presented the innovations in education, the modern school trends and the latest digital solutions able to meet the current requirements related to the training and education of today’s students.

The conference agenda included presentations, workshops and group discussions. Additionally, 10 secondary school teachers, whose didactic projects integrating most successfully digital instruments and STEAM approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) in the teaching-learning-evaluation process won in the second National Digital Ambassador Contest, received diplomas of merit and were awarded the title of Digital Ambassadors.

During the festive ceremony organized in the National Center for Digital Innovations in Education “Future Classroom Lab”, the Digital Ambassadors presented their experience of using digital instruments and smart solutions in teaching to make their classes more interesting and stimulate creativity and learning.

Other 10 teachers whose innovative projects stood out in the contest following the evaluation of an expert jury received special prizes from the e-Government Agency, which intends to cooperate with them on its future digital literacy projects.

In her opening speech, Olga Tumuruc, director of EGA, mentioned that these practices should be replicated in all the schools and the e-Government Agency is ready to support such initiatives because great things are done by a team. “Improving digital literacy is one of our goals and we count on the openness of all stakeholders so as to improve significantly digital culture of the population in the coming years. An innovative teacher today – a digital generation tomorrow and a digital nation – in the future”, Mrs. Tumuruc added.

The e-government expert Igor Bercu made a presentation of the digital ecosystem and the e-government solutions developed by the e-Government Agency, showing how they can be integrated in the education and digital literacy training of teachers and students.

The event was organized by the National Center for Digital Innovations in Education “Future Classroom Lab” of the State Pedagogic University “Ion Creanga” in partnership with the e-Government Agency with the support of the Moldova Future Technologies Activity funded by USAID and Sweden under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Research.
